We are well into Fall and many of you have probably been attending yard sales, church bazaars and community festivals. And what do they have to do with real estate you ask?
Could be plenty if they just provide future sellers with the motivation to clean out and de-clutter.
Fall and spring are ideal times for yard sales when people turn their junk into other people’s treasures.The result is less clutter in the house. So, if you are planning to put your house on the market anytime in the next few months now is the time to clean out and have a yard sale. Upcoming cold weather puts an end to yard sales and bazaars.
If you don’t rid yourself of enough unwanted possessions by the time the bell rings on your sale consider giving some of your excess, especially clothes, to charity. Almost every house and closet has something you can do without. If you want someone else to love your home getting rid of clothes you never wear will make your closets seem larger, recycling old magazines and newspapers will make your home seem light, refreshing and airy. How about those small appliances you never use? Too many on the kitchen countertops shout “not enoughcabinet space.” You want your home to be inviting and look “lived in”; however, too much of the “lived in” look will take the buyer’s mind away from the house and cause them to focus on the residents. The idea is to find a balance between cluttered and sterile. A few staging ideas will bring that into focus…tune in next week.
Q. What does “up and coming neighborhood” mean? A. The established residents left and the neighborhood needs some responsible citizens to bring it up.
